The Visual Arts Board of The Australia Council for the Arts will host a briefing about its funding programs for 2007. This briefing is open to everyone and will be especially beneficial to craftspeople, designers, new media artists, visual artists and arts writers interested in applying for arts funding.

(Melbourne) INDIA: Inaugural Lowy Australia-India
Strategic Lecture

The Lowy Institute and the Australia-India Council, with support from Asialink, present India in East Asia with Professor Raja Mohan.

India's increasing outward orientation over the last 10 to 15 years means greater engagement with East Asia. Its membership of the East Asia Summit and the development of its recent Look East policy display a new interest and conversation with China, Korea and Japan.

Professor Mohan is Strategic Affairs Editor, The Indian Express and author of The Shaping of India's New Foreign Policy. His previous appointments include Diplomatic Editor and Washington Correspondent of The Hindu; Professor of South Asian Studies at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and two terms on India's National Security Advisory Board. He has a masters degree in nuclear physics and a Ph.D. in international relations.

(Bangkok) EXHIBITION: Streetworks:
Inside Outside Yokohama

Asialink is proud to present the first of its regional exhibitions in Bangkok tomorrow. Streetworks: Inside Outside Yokohama is an exhibition of the works of two leading Australian video artists, Shaun Gladwell and Craig Walsh, whose works were a highlight at the International Triennial of Contemporary Art Yokohama 2006. It is a lively and engaging exhibition that aims to strengthen artistic relations between Thailand and Australia, and to present to Thai people current contemporary video art practices in Australia. This exhibition is organised by Asialink and Canberra Contemporary Art Spaces and is supported by the Australia Council for the Arts and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

TIME: Official opening Thursday 1st February, 6.30pm.
Runs until 6 March.

(Bangkok) EXHIBITION: A Secret History of Blue & White

The second Asialink-organised exhibition for the year kicks off in Bangkok next week. A Secret History of Blue & White highlights the diversity and strength of Australian ceramics and positions it within European and Asian ceramic histories. While the reputation of Australian craft has grown steadily in Europe and North America, Asialink acknowledges the importance of sharing these developments within our region.

This exhibition is organised in partnership between Asialink and JamFactory Contemporary Craft and Design. This exhibition has been supported by the Australian Government through the Australia Council for the Arts and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

TIME: Official opening Thursday 8 February at 6.00 pm.
Runs until 3 March.
