Indonesia - Australia Arts Management Program Since 1998, Asialink has worked closely with our Indonesia partner Kelola Foundation to manage the Indonesia-Australia Arts Management Program. To date, this program has provided significant experience to over 17 Indonesian arts practitioners by placing them on internships with Australian arts organisations. It has also provided specialist training for over 70 Indonesian arts practitioners through skills development workshops in Indonesia led by senior Australian arts managers. Evaluation of the program with participants and their Australian hosts has identified the program's success in promoting the professional skills development of Indonesian arts practitioners. The networks, knowledge, skills and most importantly the ongoing relationships that result from their residencies have enabled the Indonesian arts managers to contribute towards the development of valuable arts infrastructure and resources for the Indonesian arts community. This has resulted in a multitude of ongoing and new cultural initiatives for Indonesia. The program, supported by the Ford Foundation, adds to Asialink's overall vision of assisting Australian and Indonesian arts managers to extend their frames of reference, inspiration and opportunities through an exchange of skills, ideas and networks. Over the next 2 years the program will support another 6 Indonesian Arts Management residencies and will also extend to encompass a pilot project, the Northern Territory - Eastern Indonesia Partnership, that focuses on the revitalisation of the traditional arts in Indonesia. Host Organisations Host organisations are not expected to contribute to the cost of the residency but we do ask that they help to administer some aspects of it. However, hosts are expected to provide a constructive working environment, support the resident's experience and provide opportunities for interaction and networking. As a host to an international guest, there are also considerations of hospitality and welcome to consider, including having a central contact person, and assisting with finding suitable accommodation. Many organisations are not accustomed to hosting international guests, but Asialink will assist with advice and information wherever possible to make the experience mutually beneficial with increased future possibilities. The Indonesia-Australia Arts Management Program is funded by the Ford Foundation, Jakarta and run in partnership with the Kelola Foundation, Indonesia.
